Sahar Nava

Sahar is a sustainable design specialist, and a Doctoral Researcher and Design Tutor at Bartlett, UCL. Sahar has a particular interest in a holistic approach towards sustainability, addressing the broader environmental, social, and economic impacts of design. Sahar's research aims to explore a framework for stakeholder engagement in the process of assessing and analysing the lifecycle sustainability of buildings. Their research questions the equity and authenticity of the current methodologies and practice of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies, and scrutinises the integration of a participatory approach to Life Cycle Sustainability Analysis (LCSA) for decision-making on housing estates' regeneration schemes. Sahar has a wide range of experience in qualitative research, co-design and co-production, and mixed-methods and transdisciplinary research. Since starting architectural education in 2001, Sahar has worked on a wide range of projects, of different scales and sectors. Sahar implements and integrates sustainability measures across teaching and design projects. She has nationwide and international experience gained at some of the most prestigious practices, including RSHP, leading teams on global projects. Sahar's technical expertise enables them to push innovation in design and sustainability in different contexts. Sahar is well-versed in interpreting different stakeholders’ needs, and confidently leading design dialogues and iterative presentations. When free, you will find Sahar exploring the latest developments in AI to assist with design and analysis; playing the piano; experimenting with arts and crafts; hiking; and practising yoga.
